Aquavit has its origin in Scandinavia, where it has been produced since the 15th century. The word Aquavit is derived from the Latin aqua vitae, “water of life”. Akvavit gets its distinctive flavor from various spices and herbs, with the main spices being caraway and dill. It’s an important part of Scandinavian drinking culture, where it is often drunk chilled and slowly sipped from a small shot glass during festive gatherings, such as Christmas dinners and weddings, and as an aperitif.
Schnapsleiche Aquavit is a Northwest interpretation of this popular Scandinavian spirit. Dill, fennel, caraway and other spices are carefully blended and distilled by means of a vapor-infusion process of our Schnapsleiche Vodka. Enjoy it neat or on ice with your favorite evening meal.
